You know about De Doctrine La Histoire

I’ve had about a zillion pedometers. Finally I have one that works for me.

First, it works. I’ve had cheap pedometers that didn’t.

Second, it works in several places on your body. I’ve never had any luck clipping things on to my waistband; they fall off and break. This one I can clip under my clothing or put in my pocket. I can get to it easily and check my progress.

I have a variety of Class 6 Transcend cards as well as a dozen or so from other companies. It’s interesting the actual speeds of Transcend’s Class-6 cards vary widely. For example, I have two identical 8 GB Class 6 cards that were purchased about 6 months apart. The older one benchmarks (using ATTO-DISK the same software used in some professional reviews) about 50% faster than the newer one.

This 16 GB card is slower than both of my Transcend 8 GB cards. In fact it’s the slowest Class 6 card I have period. Most Class 6 cards test in the 10MB/sec – 15MB/sec range. This card only manages around 9MB/sec. The spec calls for a minimum of 6MB/sec so it still is acceptable. If you’re interested, check my review of the SanDisk Extreme Class 6. It’s literally more than 3 times faster than this card (but also costs significantly more).

It’s also worth noting the SanDisk Ultra Class 4 cards far outperform this card. But SanDisk is sort of in a class by themselves.

The good news is if you’re just shooting JPG still pics, or anything less than full 1080HD video, this card is probably fast enough. Only shooting HD Video at the highest quality settings on a higher end camera, or shooting long bursts of RAW images on a DSLR, are likely to tax this card.

I’ve also had a Transcend 2 GB card fail and I lost everything on it. While any card can fail, I’ve not had any problems with SanDisk or Kingston despite using those brands more heavily. There are lots of other reports of people having problems with Transcend cards as well (although some of those are likely from trying to use a card that was too slow for their application). So you have to balance the lower price with the possiblity you might lose everything on the card and the slower performance.

Finally, beware everything you put this card in needs to be SDHC compatible. If your PC, device or reader is more than a few years old, it might not be. I know people who filled up their new SDHC card with irreplaceable pics and video,

Do you really like Dans Sport La Cite ?

The closest book store to us is 40 minutes away. We had made two trips in two weeks waiting for the store to get this book in. After the second trip I logged onto Amazon ordered the book and in just a few short days the book arrived. I will use this service before making another trip to the “city” for a book. My son loved the book, finished it in 3 days. He’s currently on book 3 and again can’t put them down. He has decided that once he is finished with the series, he will donate them to the school library so more kids can enjoy them. He has already loaned out this book (1st in series) to a friend to read. The mom called and thanked us as her son NEVER wanted to read before this. Wonderful Series, very happy with purchase.

Mini Tour La Lampposts watch out

I like this GPS unit, but I am disappointed that I can not use the virtual trainer along with the HRM. Other than that it is great and works as advertised without any problems. For me the boot-up was fast and accurate and I wore a wrist band underneath and it was comfortable, but adds a lot of size to my wrist – so this may not be an option for those with large wrist. All in all I would buy this again.

Say hi to du Vérité Ciel La

I won’t try to tell you what this book is about….there are many other reviews here that can do that much better than I can….I just want to let you know how it made me feel.
I had the miraculous privilege of growing up with all of our “ole folk”. Both sets of my great-grandparents lived well into their 90’s. For anyone who had this kind of wonder in their lives, you know what a blessing that was….and for those who didn’t…..well my heart aches for your not knowing what you missed. Watching and listening to; in particular, my Grand-dad E. was both heart breaking and fabulous! His mind was sharp and exact till the end…even though sometimes his physical self didn’t follow suit the way he thought it should. Even with all of the frustration that came with getting older and losing control of parts of his life, he always had advice to give and stories to tell. I would stay up at the barn with him all through the summer days, helping him work on his projects while he explained to me how to tell when a snake was venomous or showing me how to brush the horses out at the end of the day, because no matter how tired you where…they had worked harder. I am filled with memories of sitting and listening to him telling tales of when he was in his 20’s and 30’s and what they all did to get by during the depression. He also made sure I knew how wonderful it was to get sit out in the field you’d been working in all day and eat your fill of the melons that were being harvested. Reading this book was like sitting in that barn all of those years ago listening to this man that I love so much, tell me about a world that we can’t even imagine while he showed me the right way to do things in the world that I lived in now.
Reading this book was like spending those summers with my Grand-dad. Sara Gruen made me feel the train swaying as it ran through the night and let me smell the smell of the animals as they stood in the heat of the day waiting to be tended to. She let me c
