One of the TSI's principal activities is to host workshops that bring together scholars and practioners to help identify patterns, trends, and conceptual and methodological frameworks to establish the "intellectual foundations" of the emergent field of Transnational Studies.

Additional workshops are planned on the topics of transnational religion, arts and culture, and transnational America.
